When I arrived in the capital I sent a note to my friend at the palace inquiring about the blossoms:

Have the blossoms now
Been swept by the summoning wind?
My promise must seem emptier
With every passing day.
This was her reply:
Why should the blossoms
Yield to the gusts of wind,
Though the day you promised
Is now long past? [5.27]
